The First Facebook Timeline Campaign

On Monday, 16th January

We spent a long time admiring this impressive piece of advertising genius last week, and although you may already have seen it, we wanted to be the ones to tell you more about it. The campaign is the world’s first Facebook timeline campaign and we’ll give you three guesses to predict which advertising wonder-kids came up with it… The Israeli Anti-Drug Authority (obviously).

Not only is the idea a good one but it is annoyingly simple, with a profile set up to compare the possibilities of a life with drugs on one side, and a life without on the other. The archived style of the new Facebook profile enables one’s comings and goings to be chronologically presented better than any diary, photo album or memory ever could, and it is by utilising this tool that the campaign emerged so vividly.

We don’t think for a second that this is going to be the only Facebook timeline campaign of 2012, in fact we’re sure that people are already coming up with a similar idea as we speak. However, the tricky part won’t be the best way to communicate with your audience, but how best to utilise everything from check-ins to videos to statuses so your audience can really understand your subject.

Take a look at the profile and let us know whether you think personalisation is the best way to attract attention.
